About Me

My recently published interview:
http://antzfxway.com/2011/02/06/interview-sriram-guruswamy/
About Me"There are ones who still say that photography is not an art... the scene/subject is there right in front of the eyes... and all that one needs to do is click the button" "But there are also the others who believe that even though it is just a click of the button, one can perceive and present the image in an own way.. It is what one visualizes.. aspects like composition, point of view, DOF added to the other respective aesthetics can help traverse newer dimensions.. A picture can express, communicate, tell a story, depict life in stillness and present nature in its purest form. And thats what makes it as a finer form of art.." These latter words in quotes is what I believe in and the words continue to inspire me . Added to all this, works of great photographers like Steve McCurry continue to amaze me! Steve's work made me realize that photography is not just about capturing something that is already beautiful but a honest perspective into those real moments of truth depicted in an aesthetic way. Photography for me is something that enables me to connect to a very deeper and inner side of nature, life, the little precious moments and the real world surrounding it.What started as a hobby is something more than a passion for me now. I have not missed a single day of posting an image out of my work in the last 4 plus years in my photoblog: http://thetraces.aminus3.com. The challenge has been to capture the image in the truest essence and make it substantial in its own sense. Current and Active Photoblog: http://thetraces.aminus3.comFlickR: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thetraces/Recognition:VFXY Weekly pick award - 26.5.2008Winner - TCS Shutterbug Award16 - times at spotlight in Aminus3.Current shortlist in Eventful India Photography awardsCurrent shortlist in National Geographic India Photo Contest.TestimonyWritten by Dawn M. Armfield of VFXY on my work - http://photos.vfxy.com/weekly/20080526I have a long distance love affair with India. I've never been, but when I see photographs of India by talented photographers like Sriram, I am enamored all over again. I'm sure the colors of India have something to do with it. Sriram captures those colors vividly. Each color image is bold and beautiful, incredibly powerful in simplicity. Perhaps, though, it is the people. Sriram's photographs of the people of India make this transparent. The children look idyllic and the photographs of adults in work environments or during celebrations are an insight into a culture that exudes knowledge about life. Sriram's photography speaks volumes about his love for his homeland, and rightfully so.Written by Jason Kravitz, Founder of Aminus3 on my workAs founder of the Aminus3 photography community (where Sriram first began posting photos), I have seen his body of work evolve over the years. He has inspired many photographers around the world with his rich imagery.Sriram's photography takes the viewer on a magical journey through India and beyond, showing the rich colors, history, traditions and humanity with a flair of humor, wonder, style and grace throughout. Viewing through Sriram's portfolio is always a fascinating experience, highly recommended.Photography EquipmentNikon D700 and D50 with a24-85mm f/2.8-4.0D IF AF Zoom Nikkor Lens;12 - 24mm SigmaSigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG Macro;50mm Prime Nikkor f/1.8;18 - 55mm & 55 - 200mm Nikkor lenses; Couple of neat Manfrotto Tripods and a whole lot of filters!More About Me.......: o )Hmmm... Inner Space
traces
Inner SpacePlenty a times, there are those moments of artistic blocks or what you call it as the absolute pursuit for satisfaction while trying to communicate through any medium of art . Such moments have been quite abundant in my case too. Still remember such times in those days when I had a simple point and shoot equipment to those moments of self realization of the passion I have had for this fine form of art. This happens to me even today. While it can put you to a real low, I have also felt that its quite a motivational factor to raise the toes and get immersed into the creative zone. These are some of the pictures that I captured in all those memorable moments which helped me to slightly overcome these blocks. But again only temporarily, when the urge in myself begins to bang the drums yet again. My hunger towards travelling have helped me quite a bit in building a body of work over last four to five years. For me travelling is an opportunity to learn, experience different cultures, meet a variety of people and sometimes get to know their deep inner side. Especially in a multi-linguistic country like India, there are no dearth for opportunities to travel and tune yourself into drastically different atmosphere. Exploring places like the Greater Himalayas, Spiti Ranges, Agra, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Kerala, Tamil Nadu have been absolutely blissful for me. While my "to-travel" list is painfully long and its just about only a start, I can only get mighty excited about the journey. Hope all of you enjoy browsing these pictures as much as I did while capturing them.Cheers, Sriram
